The Be the Change Challenge is
designed to make the work of CCEJ not just accessible but imperative
to all. Whether you are a veteran of the fight against bias,
bigotry, and racism, or you are new to the battle, CCEJ will be a
resource for you to help you strive to be the change.
If you are comfortable making large
scale, public change, we support that. If you are working with
your own family or in your children's school, that is an equally
important way to be an agent of change.
No matter what your contribution is,
it will make a difference!

BE THE CHANGE IDEAS TO GET
STARTED!
AT HOME
- Evaluate the cultural diversity
reflected in your home's artwork, music, and literature. Add
something new.
- Point out stereotypes and
cultural misinformation depicted in popular culture and media to
your friends and family members.
AT WORK
- Organize a "brown-bag" lunch
forum on topics of diverse cultural and social interest.
- Ensure that your workplace
complies with the accessibility requirements of the Americans with
Disabilities Act.
AT SCHOOL
- Donate multicultural books,
films, and magazines and other materials to school libraries.
- Work to change divisive school
emblems and mascots at your neighborhood schools.
AT WORSHIP
- Note how your faith addresses
issues of inclusion and justice and make sure your actions align
with these ideals.
- Work with other members of your
congregation to welcome people of different ethnic, cultural, and
economic backgrounds.
IN OUR
COMMUNITY
- Speak up when you hear slurs,
see discriminatory images, or receive hate propaganda. Let
others know that bias speech is always unacceptable.
WITH
CCEJ
- Sponsor an Adopt A Student in
the Building Bridges Youth Human Relations Program.
- Participate in a Human Relations
Education and Facilitator Training Program.
