The CCEJ celebrated its 48th Annual Dinner and Gene Lentzner Human Relations Awards Celebration on October 20, 2011. This year’s honorees were: Alicia Carrera, Community Leader, Anita Gibbins, Director Student Health Services & Student Life and Lt. Ty Hatfield, Long Beach Police Department. All were recognized for their continued commitment to social justice, human relations, promoting intergroup cooperation and building better communities across ethnic and religious lines at a “grass roots” level.
Christopher Covington and Marianne Drummond were the recipients of the Anthony B. Rogers Volunteer Award which recognizes volunteers for their exceptional dedication & passion for promoting the work of CCEJ.
Keith Lilly, Director of the Boys and Girls Club, Petrolane was also honored with the City of Long Beach Human Dignity Award for his outstanding contributions toward promoting community harmony in the celebration of the strengths of diversity.
