Interfaith/Intercultural Program
Interfaith/Intercultural Breakfast
CCEJ sponsors an annual
Interfaith/Intercultural Breakfast where more than 900 people
celebrate the diversity of southern California, highlighting the
various cultures and religions in our communities. Benefactors
Gene and Ann Lentzner began their perpetual gift six years ago
helping to underwrite all future CCEJ Interfaith/Intercultural
Breakfasts, allowing CCEJ to keep ticket prices affordable.
Keynote speakers have
included nationally known civil rights activists such as Craig
Kielburger (founder of Free the Children), Prince
Cedza Dlamini of Swaziland (grandson of Nelson Mandela) Gerda
Weissman Klein (Holocaust Survivor, Author and Historian),
Dolores
C. Huerta (co-founder of the National Farm Workers
Association), Frank
Emi (Civil Rights Leader), Dr.
Terrence Roberts (Member of the Little Rock Nine),
Morris Dees (Attorney and Founder of the Southern Poverty Law
Center in Alabama), and Phoebe Eng (Attorney and
former publisher of A. Magazine for Asian Americans).
This year's keynote speaker for the 18th Annual
Interfaith/Intercultural Breakfast (February 24, 2009) will be
Marian Wright Edelman. Mrs. Edelman is the Founder &
President of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF), and has been an
advocate for disadvantaged Americans for her entire professional
life. CDF has become the nation's strongest voice for children
and families. Mrs. Edelman is a graduate of Spelman College &
Yale Law School & was the first black woman admitted to the
Mississippi Bar. She is an award winning author, and recently
released her current book, The Sea is So Wide and My Boat is So
Small: Charting a Course for the Next Generation.

Interfaith Roundtable
Individuals from a
variety of religions and faiths come together to discuss and share
their religious and philosophical beliefs. In an environment
that promotes understanding and respect, participants also engage in
conversations that will unify and benefit the entire community.
