The always popular Awards Celebration began with entertainment by local saxophonist Brian Grace during cocktails and appetizers. The room was decorated in CCEJ’s new colors- red, orange, purple and blue.

The evening opened with the Pledge of Allegiance by Stephanie Velasquez, one of CCEJ’ s Interns.

Drew Gagner, CCEJ Board Chair, introduced its elected officers and welcomed all dignitaries in the room.

Dr. Sabrina Sanders, Director of Student Affairs Projects and Initiatives, CSULB Office of the Chancellor, inspired the audience with her speech about current data relating to equity and her personal story that led her to be a change agent. The 3 honorees were presented by Wende Nichols-Julien, Danielle Nava-Mijares, Margaret Madden and Francisco Rodriquez, with heart felt presentations for all 3 Human Relations honorees.

Gene Lentzner, Breakfast co-chair for CCEJ, closed the evening with his words of wisdom.
