Christian Picciolini was born and raised in Blue Island, Illinois, the son of Italian immigrants. As a young person, he joined the white supremacist movement of the 1980s and 1990s, eventually becoming a leader within the movement and using music to advance hatred in a white supremacist punk band. In 1996, at 22 years old, he left the violent hate movement to begin the process of rebuilding his life. He earned his degree in international relations and international business at DePaul University and started his own digital media and counter-extremism consulting firm. Using music to advance a different agenda, Christian founded another, non-racist punk rock band as well. Today, he is an MSNBC contributor, Emmy Award-winning director and producer, published author, and global peace advocate, working to use the redemption he has been offered to make the world a better, more peace-filled place.
