On May 4th, CCEJ hosted our annual Building Bridges for Youth Volunteer Appreciation event at Taboon Mediterranean Restaurant in Long Beach. More than 40 youth leaders, youth mentors, and adult volunteers from all Building Bridges for Youth programs gathered to enjoy food and have fun celebrating each other. CCEJ staff also recognized our awesome Building Bridges interns, who have provided key support over the past academic year.
Volunteers received certificates of recognition, books, and tote bags, and a few lucky raffle winners received gift baskets donated by our supporters at Barilla USA. Youth leader Caleb enjoyed the event, saying, “What I really liked about the appreciation lunch is that it felt really family-oriented; everyone was really happy to see each other. I was very happy to be appreciated and loved in that space. It felt good to recognize everyone and recognize how much we’ve all grown.”
Program director Kathleah shared that, “Volunteers put in a lot of time and energy into supporting our many programs. This event provides the opportunity for our volunteers to be seen, appreciated, and be in community with one another. When we’re at camp, it’s all about the youth. But when we get together for this type of event, it’s about them – our volunteers.”
CCEJ could not exist without the thousands of hours of service dedicated each year by our more than 300 volunteers. If you would like to become a volunteer with CCEJ, please visit https://www.cacej.org/volunteer/ to learn about opportunities.
